Recovery
This month has been a busy one for me. I have been fortunate enough to still provide an income for my family, so I've done a lot of overtime during the festive season. Due to the long and tiring hours, I didn't have the energy to write anything. I decided to get the festive season out of the way and not kick myself for not writing anything for the month. It was a decision I went back and forth on. I questioned my motivation, wondered if I decided to delay a post because I lacked motivation. Then I just chose to take the time to give quality instead of just putting anything out for the sake of consistency. I wanted to take the time to give my best in everything I had to do for the month. I wanted to make sure every task set would be done with my full attention and focus.
Recovery is an essential part of life. Breaks and rest are crucial to performing day to day task at a high standard.
Our bodies and minds work just like a car. We need to ensure we keep with maintenance and service to ensure we are performing at optimal capacity. Its all well and good to be available consistently or consistently perform a task, but would you serve better if you took care of yourself more to give your best? In sports, would you rather have someone that plays three games a week but only gives you 50% of themselves or would you rather have a player who plays two games and can provide you 100%? In life do you want to give 80% of yourself to work and only 10% to family and friends and 10% to your hobbies and personal endeavours? Take the time to plan and execute ideas and events that give you the best chance to complete them at your absolute best.
2020 was a challenging year for a lot of us. We all suffered in one way or another, whether that be loss of loved ones, loss of income and missing family members you couldn't spend time with. As I wrote in some of my recent articles, 2020 was a year to learn a lot about yourself, plan and create things that you didn't have the chance to do. Make healthier food choices to help your body prepare for the cold, flu and even covid viruses that will hit us harder now that its winter. Make sure you took the time in 2020 to be prepared for the years ahead and if you didn't, start now its never too late. We were all glad to see the back of 2020, but we still don't know what 2021 has planned for us. Society still hasn't fully returned to normality (Although we know it never will) so while the world is trying to recover we as individuals should also be trying to recover.
We should be trying to recover our mental strength because this time affected a lot of peoples mentalities. We should try to regain our health that has had a knock because we are less mobile and lack vitamins the sun gives us. We should try to recover the energy lost from years of being at our limit every day. The demand of society was stretching us before lockdown, and now we have the chance to regain some of the things that bring us genuine happiness.
I hope 2021 has a positive impact on the people that took the time to invest in themselves. I hope that the people who haven't taken that chance yet starts today. We always look at a new year as a chance to achieve success in whatever we deem success to be. I hope that the time and information we gained in 2020 can be used at its fullest capacity in 2021.
Happy New Year.
