The People Vs Christopher Darden

Now for some of you who don't know who the person is in the title of this post, Christopher Darden was part of the prosecution team in the 1995 O.J. Simpson murder trial. Some of you may have seen the People versus OJ show that came on television so you will have an understanding of his contribution to the outcome of that trial. For those of you who didn't, let me share some information. Darden was tapped to investigate Cowlings but when prosecutor Bill Hodgman experienced a stress-induced collapsed, he was promoted to work with lead prosecutor, Marcia Clark. It cast Darden in a difficult position. Some African-Americans, including Simpson's attorney, Johnnie Cochran, criticized Darden's place on the prosecuting team, even suggesting he'd been tapped solely because he was black. The issue of race hovered over every facet of the Simpson trial. So did the failings of the prosecutors. For his part, Darden was haunted for years by his decision to have Simpson try on a pair of blood-soaked gloves. The defendant's hands seemingly appeared too big for the gloves prompting Cochran to utter one of the trial's more famous lines: "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit." After deliberating for just four hours, the mostly black jury found Simpson not guilty on all counts on October 3, 1995. So as you have read, Chris Darden is the main reason why the prosecution team lost the case against jo Simpson in 1995. Fast forward to 2019 and the death of Ermias Ashegdom AKA and Nipsey Hussle. The Murderer has been arrested and the plea hearing date arrived and who is the Lawyer representing the Murderer? None other than Chris Darden. I just want to start off with; Chris, mate, what the hell is your problem? are you alright? do you like abuse? punishing yourself? are you a masochist? Why on earth would you decide to represent this piece of shit in a case like this! I understand that this is a high profile case, it's going to generate a lot of media attention and there's nothing personal about being a defense attorney but this is beyond ridiculous. First of all, there's no money in him representing this guy because the accused cannot afford to pay a lawyer like Chris so this is on a pro-bono basis. Second, this is another case where racial issues are going to be highlighted because, for everything Nipsey was doing for his community to develop and uplift the people in it, he was murdered by another black man. Lastly, Chris Darden has again put himself in the firing line against his own community and this time he's really defending the wrong cause. Chris Darden, prior to the OJ case, prosecuted 19 homicides. Chris Darden is a Prosecution attorney specialist and has very very little information on his defense attorney history. Chris Darden so negatively affected by the outcome and aftermath of the OJ trail took a break from being a lawyer and dabbled in many other ventures before returning to law and apparently switching to a defense attorney. After understanding and studying the OJ trial and watching the show and documentaries about it, I had a lot of sympathy for Chris Darden. I felt he was made to look like a sellout, a pawn in the prosecution team. To look like this wasn't a racial issue the late Jhonny Cochran orchestrated it to be. I felt that he got manipulated by the defense team of the OJ trial to take it upon himself to try and force the conviction with his methods and when it backfired on him and failed, I believe his Prosecution team hung him out to dry and made him the scapegoat. He was used and at the time I felt bad for him. Now I know I was wrong to have felt this way. I was wrong to think a man of knowledge and understanding could be so naive and manipulated into the situation he was in when it came to the OJ trial. I now know it is all from hate. This Nipsey Hussle murder trail means so much to the black community in California and also means a lot to black society in general. I think that there is a huge awareness right now on self-hate in the black community. Chris Darden representing the murderer of Nipsey Hussle adds further fuel to that statement. It further displays the lack of loyalty to one another we are still very much suffering from the trauma our ancestors went through. This was the perfect opportunity for Chris Darden to see this case and pass it on to another lawyer, preferably of another race. He could have gained respect for such a move and maybe been able to contribute in a positive way to his community. Instead, what he did was see an opportunity to capitalize off another tragedy and make himself
one of the biggest traitors of his community.
There was no need for him to represent the accused, it was done just to be in the spotlight and for what? His family is now at risk and he fears for his life. Chris Darden went on to make a statement in regards to his involvement in the case. "I have been receiving a lot of negative feedback for representing Mr. Holder. I am a lawyer, this is my profession, my career, my source of income. As an attorney, I am prohibited from using my personal feelings when I'm making decisions on who I represent. This is a HIGH PROFILE case as the one I worked diligently on for OJ SIMPSON! I question my safety as Mr. Holders attorney & this should not be the case. My JOB is to represent Mr. Holders BEST INTEREST". The fact that this guy is taking this case solely for attention is what's wrong with our society. We're willing to sell ourselves out for the right price. We put money and fame in front of morals and loyalty towards one another. Our communities could prosper a lot more in the long run if we built a network between each other which is something Nipsey was trying to do. What happens is individuals become selfish and decide they don't care about the bigger picture and only are out for what they can get. Effectively that creates a ripple effect that continues to get bigger as we create a divide between each other. The divide is the people that are trying to work their way out of poverty and the elite black groups. Some individuals in the elite black groups don't care about what happens to people that look like them. They don't care about the environments that they grew up in and could have destroyed them. They leave and don't look back. Then you have the people that feel trapped in the environment. They don't see how they can further themselves, don't know the steps they need to take or like many, made mistakes in their lives that prevent them from being given chances to prove they are reformed. Once in a while, you have a person that wants to help the community and take the necessary steps to set a foundation to build a network for success in their communities. They gain attention and are loved and valued by the people they are helping. They gain so much recognition and appreciation for the selfless efforts. They are an inspiration. As they gather momentum they are suddenly halted. and it always seems to be by the very people that look like them. They are stopped by someone who doesn't want to see them do great. Stopped by their very own people. Sometimes I wonder if the story of Judah's is a story about us. If that story is there to let us know no matter how much you strive to succeed we have enough of your own people in place to betray you at the top and at the bottom. Nipsey is a victim of betrayal of his own people at both ends of the spectrum. Betrayed by a man from the very same gang culture he was improving and betrayed by a successful black man who is only here for self-gain. Both men are cancers in our community and until we regroup and form a collectiveness to prosper in bigger numbers, traitors will continue to pick us off one by one and keep our society down. Chris Darden, you are The definition of self-hate at a high social status and when this case is all over, they will chew you up and spit you out and you will have to look in the mirror and hate the person you are even more than you already do. Then, You will have us to answer too.
