The ego of the black man

So after the news of Nipsey passing away, there is more information of what took place outside of The Marathon store on Slauson Avenue. This insect of a human being was told that he could not be outside the store due to his cooperation with the police. Him and Nipsey knew each other and Nipsey knowing this man being an informant, as street code goes, cannot be associated with him. So rather than cause a big issue he requested this man move from his establishment. Few hours later the man returns and opens fire on Nip and two other people he was chilling outside the store front with. What makes this disgust me even more is the fact that he stood over him and let off a few more shots before kicking him and running down an alley. I write this while listening to "One take 3" by Nipsey and he says a line "speaking my name I know they despise me, cause of the status I've obtained and the places I fly free". The actions this insect took was from someone who wasn't happy within himself, wasn't happy in his heart as the person he was. He's known as a killer he has "Bodies" to his name, so with a reputation like this he must have felt insulted that Nipsey dismissed him due to the status he had obtained as an informant. The thing about egos is that they can be very delicate if they are not trained properly. In this case this man let his ego make him the enemy of progress. There is an issue with mental health in the black community that we need to address and this man fell victim to this same issue. I know people I have grown up with that "Lived that life" and have created this idea of themselves that make them greater than they really are. Now with Instagram and other social media platforms around the mindset to keep up with these personas have gotten out of hand but before social media, on the roads there was just word of mouth. You would have a "Brudda" on the block telling you about what type of person he is "I do this ting you know! I got this and that and I bust this ting and did this move" blah, blah, blah. What comes with that is a reputation of being "someone" so now you are always expected to be that type of person but times change, people grow and circumstances change and make people evolve or devolve at all times. A man with an ego cannot necessarily adjust to change if his mind hasn't been trained to and being trained to deal with change is being able to understand who you are as an individual and where you stand at times of change. I will use Nipsey's killer as an example. This man had a reputation he did what he did out there on the streets robbed, killed, sold drugs etc. He has this reputation that he has built up, now with this reputation he has an ego that makes him feel he has a certain status on the streets. As life goes on and circumstances change and he continues to do the same thing hes been doing, policing gets better or maybe they just pay attention to him and he gets arrested. Him not being able to take the change of doing a long time behind bars for the same lifestyle he has been living all this time, decides to do what he has to, to keep the lifestyle he's built for himself so he cooperates with police in case's to get other men arrested and put into jail. Now as far as he's concerned his street cred is still intact cause for one, he probably thought no one would find out and also because of the reputation he has built up as far as he's concerned no one who even care or even look into it but because there are other people also like him that live that gang banging life also, they too have a reputation and an understanding about how street code goes, so now to them, he's an informant no matter what the reputation was, it is now null and void and you are perceived as one thing. A Rat. As I mentioned before people with egos that aren't trained to adjust to changes in circumstances will retaliate in ways that make them have to prove to themselves that they are who they still think they are but the reality is they aren't and due to lack of acceptance will lash out in ways that effect and hurt other people. In this mans case he was a killer who turned informant but still felt he was a killer and because Nipsey told him what he now is, he could live with that in his heart and instead of trying to deal with the changed in his status he took the cowards way out and tried to proved that he is still a killer when deep down it doesn't matter how many bodies he has he will never ever be respected on the streets ever again. I hope justice is done by the streets Nipsey loved and tried to uplift and if this man is caught by people that love Nipsey before the police catch him it won't be another black on black crime it will be taking the trash out.
