Instant Fulfilment
I've struggled to write an article these past few weeks because I've had so many conversations about different topics but haven't felt like I would have too much depth in the issues.
I've had discussions from; missing out on the person for you, to refusing to change to better yourself. I decided to speak on the bad habits modern society has given us as this was a topic I felt that many people could relate to and could be applied to different parts of your life. Talking to a close relative of mine, we discussed what kind of attitude you need to have to make something successful. The effort that it takes to succeed in whatever you do can never be minimal. You have to go into anything you do with optimism and an honest try in executing it.
I've been applying the same attitude to my son. I try to show him that to achieve success in life; it takes genuine effort. You cannot wake up one day and say you want to be a footballer. It takes practice, and it takes a positive attitude. Kids of this generation have been brought up in a society of instant results. They no longer seek to play a computer game trying to complete it with perseverance. They would instead rather go on Youtube and watch a gamer complete it. They would rather watch someone make pancakes or cupcakes instead of putting in the effort of getting dirty and making it themselves. They even go as far as watching people online review fast food and tell them what they think of the meal instead of just thinking about it themselves. The society with are in now takes a lot of effort out of specific processes impacting all of us. We no longer have to put in the action of going out to meet a partner. There's an app for that. We no longer have to go out to get takeaway food. There's an app for that. We don't even need to go and visit our loved ones anymore. There's an app for that.
So with there being so much easy access to the things we want, how are we suppose to apply a genuine effort to things that require more than assistance from an app? How do we get out of the habit of things being easy and revert to "working' for the things we want?
Whether it's relationships, sports, education or how you approach life, it would be best if you came with a can-do" attitude.
It would help if you were willing to learn and try different methods and get out of your comfort zone.
Sometimes we fall into the habit of applying the same attitude to everything. You could be in a job that you may not want to do but have to for your family. The half-hearted effort you give in that, you may start to apply in your home life. You may use it to do errands, and you may apply it to how you approach new ventures you take on. We are searching for instant fulfilment because we're surrounded by it. There are positives to it, but its starting to feel like too much. Balance is such an essential thing in life that we don't promote it enough. We need to start promoting the importance of how rewarding working towards something can be, especially if the reward brings accomplishment to the individual we need to understand that we should go above and beyond for ourselves to achieve the things we want and maintain a positive attitude. Hold yourself at a high standard. If you had the option of having something of high value or cheap, you would go for high value so understand that you need to see yourself as high value and only want the best even if that means you have to work hard for it.
