A year of Funeralizm
A year of Funeralizm marks the anniversary of Nipsey Hussle's passing.
I chose to create this blog as I believe that we all have things we want to express and share but sometimes we cannot put the words together or don't dare to say what's on our mind. Sometimes another person can speak your truth to you. Can expose your weaknesses and encourage you to take risks and chances you would have been too afraid to do before. Nipsey did that for me and continues to do that for me. We all have struggles in life that we encounter. Things that put us off doing what we truly aspire to do. We make excuses for ourselves and blame others for our downfalls or misfortunes but we only have ourselves to blame at the end of the day. The decisions we make in life can be influenced by others but ultimately the final decision to physically do things remains with us. I call my blog Funeralizm as I believe that a lot of us are just living but are not alive. We live day to day doing the things we have been programmed to do. We live in these institutional bubbles, unconsciously living morbid lives. Funerlizm was created to lay to rest that part of yourself you no longer want to endure. To bury that mentality and become the person that you want to be. Achieve the things you want to achieve. When we think of Funeral's we associate it to death of course. We look at it as sadness, loss of loved ones and end of journey's well this is that same thing. Funeralizm is the process of mourning the loss of the person you no longer want to be and laying that person to rest. Understanding why this version of you has to go and appreciating the positives of what you got from that version of yourself and applying it to an improved and happier version of yourself.
There is always a positive from a negative situation. That's how the world works. There always needs to be a balance and the universe will do whatever is necessary to even out any situation that occurs. If you feel like your life isn't where you need it to be the universe will create the opportunities and chances for you to change them but what causes us to fail to take the chances is the mindset that we have developed during our lifetime. We fall into a routine that makes us comfortable where we don't need to do much and we can handle the pressures and strains that come with these routines. Yet we will complain that we ain't happy but when the opportunity arises we fail to take the chance for change cause we're so afraid of where it could lead us. We know routine will lead us to the same outcome so we stay in that comfort zone, but not taking risks means we remain stagnant. The main fear of death for people is the fear of the unknown. The fear of what's next. That's the same as fear of progression for the average person. The thought of taking a chance of pursuing something and not knowing the outcome. We have become sailors that would rather stay at the dock instead of setting a course to a destination because we are comfortable with the small ripples that we endure at the dock instead of facing storms and monstrous waves that test our character. We would prefer to be a shark in a fish tank instead of having a whole ocean to explore.
As today marks the anniversary of Nipseys passing I want to thank him for helping me remember what this life is about. I want to thank him for having the right words to inspire and motivate people like myself to not quit, to find what we're missing in ourselves and showing us that people from the environments we come from can evolve mentally and still stay true to ourselves. His legacy is cemented in society forever and his wisdom and knowledge and growth will forever be admired.
This is an incredible milestone for me and I'm enjoying this journey I've embarked on. To have been writing articles for a year and giving people a voice and a person they can relate to is something I love to do. I love to help people and give people information that I believe everyone should have. This year will be another year of me trying to help people as much as I can and I hope I will be able to impact, motivate and inspire people that need it just as much as Nipsey inspired me.
As I mentioned before there is beauty in tragedy and I hope to honour Nipsey's legacy by never giving up on my dreams and never giving up on people.
